The College of Science has awarded Cidni Griffith in the mathematics department and Annie Montes in the chemistry department with the Spring Quarter 2011 Staff Recognition Award. Both recipients received multiple nominations over the past two quarters for the award.
Griffith, who joined the mathematics department in 2004, is the coordinator of the preparatory mathematics program, as well as the math and science help coordinator.
“Cidni is always helpful and efficient, even when I know she has many projects and responsibilities besides mine,” says Associate Professor Jennifer Switkes. “She is someone on whom I can count for excellent help, accurate information, and great work.”
Montes came to Cal Poly Pomona in 2006 and is the administrative assistant in the chemistry department.
“Whatever problem comes her way, either from confused students, upset faculty or stressed staff, she works diligently to find a solution,” says Stephanie Pastor, instructional support technician. “No matter who, or what, she receives, she maintains a calm and soothing demeanor.”
