University police are investigating a costly burglary at the Rose Float Lab on the east end of campus.
The burglary was reported the morning of March 5 when a student volunteer noticed the sliding door of the lab pried open and the locks on two nearby storage containers cut. Welding equipment, saws, grinders and other tools had been stolen. One of the containers belongs to Cal Poly San Luis Obispo, which jointly builds the rose float each year with Cal Poly Pomona.
The value of the property taken in the burglary was estimated at $13,500.
University police are seeking information from anyone who might have information about the crime.
The police strongly urge campus community members to report suspicious activity by dialing (909) 869-3070 from a cell phone, or 911 from a campus phone line or Code Blue 911 emergency tower in the parking lot.
