Cal Poly Pomona wants your blood at this week’s blood drive on Tuesday and Wednesday, March 8 & 9, from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. in the Bronco Student Center’s Ursa Minor.
One unit of blood could save up to three lives, says Debbie Jackley, marketing coordinator for Student Health Services.
Southern California typically imports about 40 percent of blood supplies from surrounding states. Due to drastic weather, blood drives across the country have been cancelled, and blood supplies have decreased.
Not only is donating blood a worthy endeavor, but most donors experience a “feel-good reaction after you’re done. You just know that it’s very valuable and someone will appreciate it,” Jackley says.
All participants will receive a voucher for two LA Galaxy tickets and free refreshments at the drive.
Donors must be at least 16 years old, weigh at least 110 pounds, and be in good health. For more eligibility requirements, go to www.redcrossblood.org/donating-blood/eligibility-requirements.
