The formal search for a new chief information officer, who will manage the day-to-day operations of the I&IT division, will soon begin. President Ortiz’s announcement comes as the university prepares for the retirement of CIO Stephanie Doda, who will leave the campus on July 15 after 22 years.
In addition, the eLearning unit will move from I&IT to Academic Affairs, under Provost Marten denBoer.
“Creating greater synergy among the faculty and our eLearning professionals is essential if we are to strengthen online instruction,” President Ortiz said Thursday in an email announcement to I&IT staff. “It is my belief that integrating this team into Academic Affairs will give us the best opportunity to achieve those goals.”
While denBoer restructures Academic Affairs, the search for a director of eLearning will be suspended, and the time frame for renewing the search will be at his discretion.
