He congratulates Lisa Kusayanagi, athletic department, who helped the department win the NCAA 2010 Division II Game Environment Award of Excellence for the CCAA conference. He welcomes Randy Betten as the new baseball coach.
President Ortiz also welcomes Dr. Mahyar Amouzegar as the new dean of the College of Engineering and who begins in July. Ortiz also recognizes Professor Don Coduto and his service as interim dean.
The video message highlights two upcoming annual events — the Cross Cultural Retreat and the Unity Luncheon. The retreat, Jan. 21-23, provides a haven for small-group discussion on sensitive cultural issues. The Feb. 8 Unity Luncheon is an opportunity for the campus to come together and celebrate this year’s theme, “Make It Better.”
Cunseling & Psychological Services (CAPS) has expanded its services, launching a 24/7 crisis counseling support hotline. Students, faculty or staff may speak with a counselor by phone after hours, during holidays or campus closures by calling (909) 869-3220. In addition, Student Health Services has added psychiatrist Dr. David Block to its staff. These services are not state funded and are supported by a special student health fee.
