History Professor Elise Wirtschafter has been invited to participate in a collaboratory, “Fighting for Living,” on military history, hosted by the International Institute of Social History. She will discuss the Russian army in the 18th and 19th centuries during a two-day workshop series in March, held in Amsterdam. She is one of several international scholars who are developing case studies of military recruitment and service in Europe, the Middle East and Asia during 1500-2000, with the goal of producing a collection of essays for publication.
