Sociology Professor to Lead Asian American Studies Association

Professor Mary Yu Danico, psychology & sociology departmentProfessor Mary Yu Danico was named the president elect for 2010-12 of the Association for Asian American Studies. She will become president after her term in 2013. The academic association utilizes an interdisciplinary approach in order to gain a better understanding of the components of Asian-American studies.

Currently the association is attempting to educate the community about the BP oil spills. The association also offers scholarships to educate emerging scholars.

“To see such a vibrant body of scholars coming out around the world to have an exchange about these issues is great and exciting,” Danico says.
