Every new gift to the university is a reason to celebrate, says President Ortiz in his weekly video message.
“So I hope you heard the cheers from the Collins College last week when they learned that the J. Willard and Alice S. Marriott Foundation had awarded them $2 million to support the college’s academic building expansion,” Ortiz says.
The gift will be matched by longtime supporters and the colleges namesakes Carol and Jim Collins. In 2008, the couple pledged to match up to $5 million for the new educational complex.
The campaign website is now available at www.yourcalpolypomona.com. It includes individual video testimonials, areas of support and information on how to donate.
President Ortiz invites the campus community to the Bronco men’s basketball home season opener on Wednesday, Nov. 17. The team hosts Pacifica College at 7:30 p.m. The 2010 NCAA Division II Championship banner will be unveiled and raised into the rafters of Kellogg Gym. A block party will be held at 6 p.m. in Bronco Commons.
