Ivan Alber has taken the post as sports information director in the athletics department. Alber will oversee all communication efforts for the 10 Bronco teams and help expand coverage of Cal Poly Pomona athletics on and off campus.

Most recently, Alber worked as sports information assistant at UC San Diego. He managed the media relations duties for nine of the Tritons’ 23 teams, including men’s and women’s soccer, softball, men’s and women’s swimming and diving, men’s and women’s crew, men’s water polo and men’s and women’s tennis. Prior to UCSD, he worked at Upper Deck as the company’s Major League Baseball sports coordinator and also with the San Diego Padres as a baseball operations and advance scouting intern.

Alber earned his undergraduate degree from the University of Richmond in 2007 as a double major in business administration and journalism. Originally from the Philadelphia area, Alber is an avid fan of the Phillies, Eagles, Flyers and Sixers.
