The music department kicks off fall quarter with the return of the Music on Film Series, whose soundtracks feature big band, classic rock and Broadway-style musical numbers.
Special performances this fall include Peter Yates playing the bowed guitar; David Cahueque and Janet Noll performing guitar and piano works; and the annual Charles Lindsley concert, which brings together faculty, alumni and students.

Music on Film Series: “Radio Days” (1987)

Written and directed by Woody Allen, this film is a semiautobiographical coming-of-age tale that recounts Allen’s childhood in Queens, New York during the Golden Age of Radio. The movie is set to a score featuring a selection of 1930s and1940s big band music.

In this screwball musical comedy set in London and Venice, Jerry Travers, an American dancer played by Fred Astaire, attempts to win the affections of Dale Tremont, played by Ginger Rogers. The film features dance numbers by Astaire and Rogers and music by Irving Berlin.
