Workers Repair Gas Leak Near University Village

Cal Poly Pomona News Logo

[Updated 11:53 a.m.] The Gas Company has capped the gas leak. Police and parking officers from Cal Poly Pomona and the City of Pomona are re-opening lanes of traffic.

Motorists should expect delays near Valley Blvd. and Temple Ave. as fire, police and Gas Company crews work to contain a gas leak near the University Village.

Around 8:45 a.m., a work crew digging a trench accidentally hit a 1.5-inch gas supply line. Temple Avenue is closed from South Campus Avenue to Valley Boulevard. One lane of westbound traffic on Valley Boulevard is closed for a block. The closures will be in effect until the Gas Company can cap the leak.

No residents occupy this portion of the village this summer, so evacuations are limited to workers in the area. Metro, Foothill and Bronco Shuttle are all being
rerouted.
