Last week’s release of the Governor’s May Revise brought some positive news for CSU, President Ortiz says in his weekly video address. Governor Schwarzenegger held firm on his commitment to higher education, supporting the restoration of $305 million to the
CSU’s 2010-11 budget and including an additional $60.7 million to increase enrollment.
Ortiz urges the campus community to help maintain momentum and remind public leaders that supporting higher education is investing in California. Last week, the Chancellor’s Office released a report about the major economic, technological, social and environmental impacts the CSU makes statewide.
The president also talks about some preliminary conversations in the Academic Senate about transitioning to a semester calendar to better align with other CSU campuses and community colleges. The investigation will be led by an ad hoc committee and will have significant representation from the Academic Senate.
