The West Point Woodwind Quintet will present a free master class at 2 p.m. and free concert at 8 p.m. on Tuesday, April 20, in the Music Recital Hall.
As one of several chamber ensembles in the U.S. Military Academy Band, the quintet performs at military social functions, school presentations and formal recitals, as well as for heads of state and visiting dignitaries. The chamber group supports the U.S. Recruiting Command with tours of high schools and colleges from Connecticut to Florida to North Dakota, as it promotes the Army bands and auditions prospective candidates.
Quintet members are: Sgt. First Class Glenn West, bassoon; Staff Sgt. Sam Kaestner, clarinet; Staff Sgt. Joshua Phillips, horn; Staff Sgt. Diana Powers, flute; and Staff Sgt. Carey Winans, oboe.
