President's Video Update for April 26

President Ortiz gives his video message on April 26, 2010.In his weekly video address, President Ortiz talks about the new College of Business Administration buildings and invites the campus community to the groundbreaking ceremony on Thursday, April 29.

The 70,000-square-foot complex will include three buildings, two auditoriums and rooms with tiered seating. The $30 million project is mostly funded by Prop 1D, which voters approved in 2006 as well as donations from foundations and private donors. In his weekly video message, the president explains the bond money can only be used to improve educational facilities.

On Sunday, May 2, the university will host the third annual Southern California Tasting & Auction. Guests will enjoy fine cuisine and wine from some of the region’s most popular restaurants, as well as participate in live and silent auctions. Proceeds from the event benefit student scholarships and academic opportunities. For more information, visit www.polytaste.com.

The president also invites the campus community to watch the first of two robot rallies on Tuesday, April 27 in the atrium of Building 17. Led by education and engineering faculty members, the robotics program helps make math and science fun for elementary students in local schools. A second robot rally will be held on Tuesday, May 18 in the courtyard area in front of Building 5.
