Patricia Hale, associate professor in the Department of Mathematics and Statistics, has been appointed as chairwoman of the Committee on the Participation of Women for the Mathematical Association of America. Her appointment is from January 2010 to January 2013. Some of her responsibilities include setting the agenda and leading two meetings of the committee at national conferences. As the committee conducts research projects on issues about women in mathematics, ale will be responsible for getting approval from the association for seeking funding. The committee also advises professional organizations on women in the field.
