The Ahimsa Center invites the campus community to join in a dialogue with Roopal Shah, executive director and co-founder of Indicorps, a non-profit that aims to create empowering and visionary leaders and inspire collective action. The lecture, discussion and reception takes place Saturday, Nov. 21 from 2:30 to 5 p.m. in Ursa Major, Bronco Student Center.
With a focus on community service, Shah will talk about creating change by living one’s values. She will also share how young people can be inspired by transformational service experiences and be challenged to find answers to big questions.
A graduate of Harvard University and the University of Michigan Law School, Shah practiced law for nearly a decade — clerking for a federal district judge in Hawaii, practicing at a law firm in Washington, D.C., and serving in San Diego for as a federal prosecutor of cases involving major narcotics and alien-smuggling along the U.S.-Mexico border.
The event is free. RSVP by Nov. 16 to ahimsacenter@cpp.edu. For more information, call Tara Sethia, director of the Ahimsa Center at (909) 869-3868 or visit www.cpp.edu/~ahimsacenter/dialogue/dialogue_11-21-09.shtml.
