Start of School + Free Food = Hot Dog Caper
The campus community can enjoy free hot dogs, drinks and ice cream at the annual Hot Dog Caper.

In this economy, no one can afford to pass up a free lunch. Cal Poly Pomona welcomes students back to campus at the annual Hot Dog Caper on Tuesday, Sept. 29 in University Park. Everyone attending can enjoy free hot dogs, chips, ice cream and beverages.

In its 26th year, this relished tradition kicks off at 11:30 a.m. with Commander Chuck Street, the popular traffic reporter from KIIS-FM, landing his helicopter on campus. Other activities include live music and games.

In support of the Presidents' Climate Commitment, the theme of this year's event is “Working TogetherToward Climate Neutrality Through Recycling.” University Park will be dotted with recycling receptacles to encourage attendees to recycle their drink bottles.

A team of 400 staff, athletes and administrators will hand out more than 12,000 hot dogs. Volunteers will be sporting this year's collectible Hot Dog Caper T-shirt.

The event is sponsored by the Cal Poly Pomona Foundation, The Pepsi Bottling Group, North County Vending, Associated Students Inc., and Facilities Planning & Management.
