Student-Athletes Earn Academic Awards

Thirty-four Cal Poly Pomona student-athletes earned 2008-09 California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) All-Academic Awards, conference commissioner Robert J. Hiegert announced last week.

“Our student-athletes put forth a tremendous commitment toward their respective sports and academics,'' Cal Poly Pomona Director of Athletics Brian Swanson said. “These 34 individuals have set high standards for themselves in their academics and we're very proud of what they have accomplished.

“We have a well-respected group of coaches and academic advising department, who continue their dedication toward developing each student-athlete.''

To be eligible for the award, student-athletes must be a varsity letter winner who competed in one of 13 CCAA-sponsored sports and record a grade point average of 3.40 or above in a minimum of 24 semester or 36 quarter units.
