Add a little spice to your weekend with some swing, samba and cha-cha. Cal Poly Pomona's Crescendo Ballroom Company presents “In Concert,” a 90-minute performance of Latin and ballroom dance numbers. Twenty-two students in the company will perform an exciting set of dance routines, and two professional dance couples will perform four solos.
The two shows on Sunday, May 24, will be at 3 and 7 p.m. in the University Theater.
“There has been so much interest in dance lately, mostly due to 'Dancing With the Stars' and 'So You Think You Can Dance.' We really think the public will enjoy the show,” says director Wesley Acker, a lecturer in the Kinesiology & Health Promotion Department. “I've never been more proud of my dancers than this year. They have made so much progress and worked so hard.”
The show will feature several ballroom and Latin dance styles, such as swing, tango, waltz, cha-cha, samba, rumba and foxtrot. The performance's highlights are a “Moulin Rouge” finale and a Motown medley.
Tickets are $15 for general admission and $10 for students. For more information, visit www.crescendoballroom.com/.
