The Collins College of Hospitality Management has released the second issue of Collins [.pdf 2.56 mb]. This college magazine features numerous stories that highlight aspects of the college's community, including faculty research, partnerships with industry and alumni news.
The cover story features The Club Managers Association of America (CMAA) Cal Poly Pomona Student Chapter, which won national “Student Chapter of the Year” at the 2009 World Conference on Club Management & Golf Industry Show in New Orleans. This top honor comes at the heels of the 2008 World Conference in Orlando, where the club earned the same accolade.
The spring 2009 issue of Collins also presents the first comprehensive story about the college's plans to build three more academic buildings between the college and Kellogg West Conference Center & Lodge. This project is being carried out in conjunction with an expansion and renovation of Kellogg West.
Collins is published twice a year by The Collins College of Hospitality Management and is distributed to alumni and friends of the college. The magazine is intended to keep alumni and friends in the loop and engaged in the college community.
The publication is funded by the Hae & Shina Park in Memory of Dr. Donald Lundberg Alumni & Outreach Endowment. The endowment was created by a $1 million donation from the Parks and a matching $1 million pledge from Carol and Jim Collins. This endowment also supports the college's alumni relations and outreach.
As part of its commitment to green printing, Collins is printed on FSC-certified paper. The Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) promotes environmentally appropriate, socially beneficial and economically viable management of the world's forests.
The second issue of Collins magazine is available online [.pdf 2.56 mb] and hardcopies are available upon request. Contact Lisa McPheron, director of communications and external relations, at lcmcpheron@cpp.edu to request hardcopies.
