Swine Flu Questions Addressed on FAQ

News of the swine flu outbreak is drawing international attention. Cal Poly Pomona is monitoring this situation and is focused on keeping our campus community aware and healthy.

No Cal Poly Pomona faculty, staff or students have reported symptoms of concern at this time, but the university has developed a Frequently Asked Questions Web site to provide information on the swine flu and the best ways to avoid getting sick. Please visit the FAQ site at http://dsa.cpp.edu/shs/swine_flu.asp.

Everyone is encouraged to use common sense measures to avoid transmission of the flu:

  • Wash your hands often with soap and water (alcohol-based hand cleaners are also effective)
  • Cover your nose and mouth when you cough or sneeze
  • Avoid touching your eyes, nose and mouth

Cal Poly Pomona will continue to follow developments with the county public health department and federal agencies. Individuals planning for international travel should consult the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) travel advisory Web site at http://wwwn.cdc.gov/travel/.

Should the situation escalate, the university will communicate updates via e-mail, the university home page and PolyCentric.
