Anna Carlin, Gregory Carlton and Dan Manson of the Computer and Information Systems Department presented as a group at the 7th Annual Secure IT Conference on March 5 in Los Angeles. Their presentation, “The Evolution of a Computer Forensics Program,” explored the rapidly growing field of computer forensics and how it is taught at Cal Poly Pomona. Carlin made a second presentation with Gary Pierce of I&IT; and Chris Laasch of Student Affairs. Carlin, Pierce and Laasch are the main organizers of the cyber security portion of the university’s Wellness Fair that takes place every year during fall quarter. They offered tips on how to get students interested in cyber security and have them think of the issue as an important component of health and well being. The Secure IT conference addresses new and emerging threats to information and network security to industry professionals and academics. Secure IT is supported by the California State University systems and the California Community Colleges.
