Bronco Basketball Teams to Play CCAA Tournament First-Round Games at Home


The Cal Poly Pomona men's and women's basketball teams will each play host in a first-round game Tuesday, March 3, as the California Collegiate Athletic Association Basketball Tournaments get underway at on-campus sites.

The Broncos men's team, which captured its third-ever CCAA title in school

history, opens play as the top seed and will face San Francisco State at 7:30 p.m. The Broncos (19-6 overall, 15-5 CCAA) earned a share of the CCAA title with Cal State Dominguez Hills and Cal State San Bernardino on the final day of the regular season Friday night. They were ranked third in the latest NCAA West Region poll.

The women's team earned the fourth seed and will take on fifth seed Chico

State at 5:30 p.m. The Broncos completed the regular season 16-13 and 12-8 in the CCAA. It marks the Broncos' first winning season in four years. They are the eighth-ranked NCAA West team.

The CCAA semifinals and finals will be played at Cal State San Bernardino's

Coussoulis Arena on Friday, March 6, and Saturday, March 7. The winners of both tournaments receive the automatic NCAA Tournament berth.
