The campus community is invited to attend an open forum to learn about the WASC Team Findings on Thursday, Jan. 15, at noon in the University Library, Room 1807. This forum will provide information on the final WASC report and the university's response.
Claudia Pinter-Lucke, the accreditation liaison to WASC, will give a 15-minute presentation followed by a question & answer session.
WASC (Western Association of Schools and Colleges) is the accrediting commission for colleges and universities in California, Hawaii, Guam and the Pacific Basin, assuring their quality of education. In October, the Capacity and Preparatory Review Visiting Team came to Cal Poly Pomona and evaluated whether the university operates with clear purposes, high levels of institutional integrity, fiscal responsibility and organizational structures to fulfill its purposes.
The WASC report and the campus response are available online at www.cpp.edu/~wasc/.
WASC required that a written response be submitted by Jan. 8. However, feedback from the forum will be incorporated into a presentation by President Ortiz to the commission at a meeting in February. The feedback will also be shared with the campus community through the WASC website.
