Drinking by college-age students is estimated to contribute to 1,700 alcohol-related deaths and 600,000 nonfatal injuries each year. Cal Poly Pomona's University Police Department has joined 100 other state law enforcement agencies to help curb drunken driving. Beginning Dec. 12, they will take part in an aggressive winter holiday DUI enforcement campaign through the new year.
