Gary A. Hamilton, professor of law and strategic management in The Collins College of Hospitality Management, has been appointed Interim Associate Vice President for Faculty Affairs by Provost denBoer. His appointment will begin immediately.
A member of the Cal Poly Pomona community since 1988, Hamilton was the founding associate dean of Collins College. He brings a wealth of leadership experience, having served as Special Assistant to the President, Coordinator of University Strategic Planning, Special Assistant to the Office of the Provost and Vice President of Academic Affairs, and Interim Dean of the College of the Extended University.
“I'm pleased and proud to have been asked by Provost denBoer to return to the Division of Academic Affairs in this new capacity,” he said. “The opportunity to work with Dr. denBoer, rejoin my talented colleagues on the provost staff, and be supported by the outstanding professionals in the Office of the Provost, Office of Faculty Affairs, and the Faculty Center for Professional Development made the decision an easy one. I look forward to working collaboratively to facilitate a productive and constructive academic year.”
Hamilton has been honored as an Outstanding Professor and an Outstanding Academic Adviser on several occasions during his tenure. He is also a published author and has provided numerous seminars and consultations to diverse clients in the hotel and restaurant industry including the National Restaurant Association, Donald Trump's Taj Mahal Hotel and Casino, MGM/Mirage, the Club Managers Association of America, , Hilton International, Lawry's Restaurants and Los Angeles World Airports
