For the second straight year and fourth time in the last five years, Cal Poly Pomona women's volleyball team will participate in the NCAA Tournament. When play gets underway Thursday, Nov. 20, at Cal State San Bernardino's Cousoullis Arena, the Broncos will find themselves staring at familiarity.
The Broncos (18-7) will face GNAC champion Western Oregon (22-2) at noon. The Broncos are the third seed in the eight-team regional after tying for second in the CCAA at 15-5. They shared the runner-up spot with UC San Diego and Sonoma State.
Cal Poly Pomona will be among familiar faces, as six of the eight teams in the Pacific Regional are CCAA members. The Broncos and the host and top-seed Coyotes are joined by No. 2 UC San Diego, No. 4 Sonoma State, No. 5 Chico State and No. 7 Cal State Los Angeles.
Brigham Young-Hawaii is the other school competing. It earned a place in the tourney by winning the Pacific West Conference regular season title.
