Learn about protecting your overall health and online identity at this year's Wellness & Cyber Security Fair on Thursday, Oct. 23. Held at the Bronco Student Center from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., the joint fairs will educate visitors on healthy lifestyles, fitness and safety, as well as Internet security and avoiding online scams.
The Wellness Fair's theme this year is “Learn By Doing…It's All About You!” Nearly 50 exhibitors will educate the campus about various health issues, provide free blood pressure screenings and massages, answer medical questions, give away food and product samples, and provide information about medical, dental and fitness programs on campus and in the local community.
Concurrently, the Cyber Security Fair will show visitors how they can protect their online identity, back up their data and avoid Internet fraud. This year's theme is “Protect Yourself Before You Connect Yourself.” A trailer sponsored by Intelli-Tech will be parked outside the Bronco Student Center, giving students a chance to try out the newest tech toys by Hewlett-Packard.
For the first time during the fairs, Cal Poly Pomona's Theater Department will stage “Phish Tales,” a series of four skits that depict real life student behavior online. It shows how phishing, a form of fraud, is as dangerous as giving your wallet to a stranger. The performance is from noon to 1 p.m. in Ursa Minor.
The fairs conclude with a grand prize drawing for an XBox 360 and a free $2,500 class courtesy of QuickStart Intelligence, as well as other prizes from Belkin, Targus and Dell.
