The priority application period for students intending to enter to a California State University campus as first-time freshmen in Fall 2009 began Oct. 1. Prospective students are strongly encouraged to apply as early as Oct. 1 and no later than Nov. 30 in order to be admitted to their preferred campus. Challenges brought on by California's current budget shortfall, are forcing the university to reduce increases in student enrollment, and, as a result, an early application will help students to have a better chance of entering the CSU campus of their choice. At least six of the university's 23 campuses will close freshmen admissions on Nov. 30 including Fullerton, Long Beach, Pomona, San Diego, San Luis Obispo, and Sonoma. Additional campuses may also close admissions categories for certain majors or programs beginning on Nov. 30. These application closing dates may not apply to students transferring to the CSU from community colleges, persons seeking teacher credentials or graduate program candidates. Application dates for students in these categories vary by campus and program. Students intending to go to the CSU as first-time freshmen next fall should visit the website www.csumentor.edu to get information and complete the online application. |
