Freshly brewed coffee, caramel Frappuccinos, venti mocha lattes, green iced tea lemonade… If you're craving gourmet coffee, tea or just a snack, you don't have to walk much farther than to the University Library.
After months of anticipation, Cal Poly Pomona Foundation Dining Services will open a full-service Starbucks Coffee on Monday, Sept. 15. Located next to the main entrance of the University Library, the newly built Starbucks will offer a full menu of drinks and pastries.
“We're extremely excited by this. We think it's going to add a really superior piece of retail to our campus,” says George Rankin, director of Foundation Dining Services. “I know there's a lot of pent up demand for it. We expect it to be very crowded and very busy.”
The 1,700 square foot coffee shop includes comfortable lounge chairs, work tables and outdoor patio seating with umbrellas. Like most of the campus, laptop computers and other devices can access the university's wireless Internet service.
During the soft opening week of Sept. 15, the store will be open 7:30 a.m. to 3 p.m., Monday through Friday. When fall quarter begins on Thursday, Sept. 25, Starbucks will be open 7:30 a.m. to 10 p.m., Monday through Thursday; 7:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Fridays; noon to 8:30 p.m. on Sundays and will closed on Saturdays. The hours may expand based on demand.
Starbucks will accept Bronco Bucks, credit cards and Starbucks gift cards. Food and drinks will not be allowed in the University Library.
