Safety Concerns Require Removal of Campus Tree

A comprehensive safety review by three independent arborists has determined that a large Sycamore tree must be removed from the corner of Mansion Lane and University Drive.

“We are faced with a situation where strong winds, like what we traditionally experience with Santa Ana conditions, could knock this tree down,” said Michael Sylvester, AVP for Facilities Planning and Management. “This could create serious injury to people or property.”

Facilities Planning and Management have contracted with a company to remove the tree on Friday, Aug. 29. Members of the university community should expect delays when moving through this section of campus.
