The campus community is invited to bid farewell to Tameka Alexander, longtime admissions counselor, on Monday, Aug. 11. Alexander has accepted a new career opportunity at Pasadena City College as a counselor and adjunct faculty, a role in which she can channel her passion for student access and achievement.

The celebration will recognize Alexander's contributions to the Admissions and Outreach Office, Black Student Union, African American Student Center, Black Faculty and Staff and the Cal Poly Pomona family. The event is from 3 to 5 p.m. in the Heritage Room on the eighth floor of the CLA Building.

During her 10 years as admissions counselor, she exemplified great leadership and enthusiasm, inspiring hope in students and parents. In her many roles, including program coordinator, counselor, advocate, supporter and friend, she contributed greatly to the success of the Admissions and Outreach Office.

Alexander was particularly proud to be a Bronco. Her drive and willingness to go above and beyond the call of duty will forever be remembered.
