Taste the flavors of summer at the Farm Store, where sweet corn and watermelons grown at Cal Poly Pomona are currently on sale.
Sweet, buttery and juicy, this year's crop of bi-color corn is especially good. It's estimated that the fields will produce about 15 tons of white and yellow corn this season. Much of the harvest will be available at the Farm Store, but a large portion of it will also be sold to small, family-owned markets in Pomona.
Cal Poly Pomona is also growing three varieties of watermelons: seeded, seedless and yellow-fleshed. Watermelons should be available at the Farm Store through the end of the summer.
The corn is on sale at 3 for $1, and watermelons are $3 each. For more information about the Farm Store, visit www.cpp.edu/~farmstore/ or call (909) 869-4906.
