Assistant Coach Competes at Olympic Trials

Cal Poly Pomona track and field assistant coach Joel Stallworth competed in the men's 400 meters at the U.S. Olympic Trials on Sunday, June 29, held at the University of Oregon.

The Modesto native and Cal State Stanislaus alum's 2008 Olympic aspirations ended as he finished fifth in his heat in 46.68 seconds. The top three times in each of the four heats plus the next four fastest times advanced to the semifinals.

Placing 18th overall in the preliminaries, Stallworth was only two spots away from qualifying for the semifinals, which takes place on Monday, June 30.
