At 8:28 a.m. on Wednesday morning, Cal Poly Pomona Police responded to a call of a 21-year-old female student who collapsed in the Admissions Office lobby. As university employees tended to her, they found her bleeding from a stab wound that might have occurred accidentally as she collapsed. Police state the wound was apparently from a folding pocket knife with a 2'' blade.
No one was attacked and no other individuals were believed to be involved in the incident.
While the student was originally scheduled to be airlifted, it was determined her injuries were such that she could be transported by ground ambulance to Pomona Valley Hospital Medical Center. An update on her condition will be made available once confirmed.
University Police officers are continuing the investigation to rule out any criminal assault, and are maintaining a heightened presence throughout the campus.
