Interim Provost Herm Lujan has announced that Lynn Turner will immediately assume the responsibilities of interim dean for the College of Business Administration (CBA) until a national search for the permanent position is complete.

A member of the university community since 1979, Turner has previously served in this role during the 2003-04 academic year after 10 years as associate dean. In 2005-06, Turner stepped in as the interim vice president of Student Affairs.

“The College of Business Administration has always been my home at Cal Poly Pomona,” said Turner. “I appreciate the support of my colleagues as we work together in the coming months. These are challenging times for the college, but also ones that offer great promise for the future.”

Turner replaces David Klock, who resigned to assume a new position with the University of Alabama – Birmingham. A search process for a permanent dean is in the developmental stages, with the intent on filling the position before the beginning of the 2008-09 academic year.

“At a time when experience is so important, Lynn will provide the CBA with excellent leadership during our search process,” adds Lujan. “He has always been willing to step up when called and I would like to thank him for taking on this important charge.”

Turner earned his doctorate from Indiana University in 1974 in Instructional Systems Technology, a master of science degree from Boston University in 1971, and a bachelor's degree in diplomacy and world affairs from Occidental College.
