The Southern California Food Industry Conference (SCFIC) returns to Cal Poly Pomona on Tuesday, Feb. 12 for its 21st annual conference. The conference titled “Ingredients For Thought” will be held at the Kellogg West Conference Center. It will feature a unique collaboration of industry executives, suppliers, educators and students. Educational sessions and guest speakers will explore the latest trends and newest ingredients available for manufacturers to develop smart foods, according to a SCFI news release. “We had such an amazing 20th anniversary conference last year, so we're looking to keep the momentum as we begin our third decade of hosting this event,” says Martin Sancho-Madriz, event chairman and program director of the host Food Science and Technology Program at Cal Poly Pomona. “We have been planning diligently for next year and are close to having all the speakers and peripheral sessions lined up. In addition, our corporate sponsorships are secured, and the guidelines for the student competition are complete.” The corporate sponsors includes Kaneka Nutrients, Biothera Corporation, Lonza, and The E.T. Horn Company. Each of these will likely present their latest respective product/service offerings, and Biothera will feature information about Wellmune, its new award-winning functional food ingredient that was recently introduced at IFT-Chicago.
