Book Signing Raises Funds for Black Faculty, Staff Scholarships
Professor Renford Reese's book “American Bravado,” addresses the destructiveness of American hegemony.

In honor of Martin Luther King, Jr. Day, there will be a fundraising event Keeping the Dream Alive on Saturday, Jan. 12, that will support the Cal Poly Pomona Black Faculty and Staff Association scholarship fund.

Political Science professor Renford Reese will be signing copies of his latest book American Bravado during an open house at the Mission Promenade in Downtown Pomona. See a short video about the book. The video features original music by Cal Poly Pomona alumnus Ashar Shah, aka hip-hop artist Manifest One.

The free event will also feature a performance by the Cal Poly Pomona Jazz Ensemble as well as a book signing by Will Fields, a former gang member who Reese has mentored. For more details about Fields, click here.

Keeping the Dream Alive is being held in conjunction with the Second Saturday Art Walk in the Pomona Arts Colony. The event will run from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. on the third floor of the Mission Promenade located at 101 W. Mission Blvd., Pomona.
