After a comprehensive national search, Vice President of Student Affairs Doug Freer has announced that Dr. Kevin Colaner has accepted the position of Associate Vice President for Student Services.
Colaner begins this new appointment Feb. 11. The AVP for Student Services oversees strategic direction for the Career Center, Counseling & Psychological Services, Disability Resource Center, Renaissance Scholars, Student Health Services and Student Support & Equity Programs.
“I am very excited that Kevin has agreed to join the Cal Poly Pomona family,” Freer says. “He brings great energy to the campus and his broad background in both student and academic affairs will certainly assist us with moving our programs and services forward.”
Colaner comes to Cal Poly Pomona from the University of Southern California, where he has served in several capacities since 2001, including assistant dean for Enrollment Management and Student Services at the Rossier School of Education and the director of Recruitment and Admissions for the School of Policy, Planning and Development.
Prior to that, he served as the director of Honors and Scholars Student Services at Cal State Fullerton. Colaner possesses an Ed.D. in higher education administration from USC, a master's degree in college student personnel services from Miami University, and a bachelor's degree in speech communications from the University of North Carolina, Wilmington.
