Following a comprehensive national search, Vice President of Student Affairs Doug Freer has announced that Maria Martinez has been named registrar effective Jan. 1.
Martinez has served the university as the associate registrar of Academic Records and Evaluation Services, which together oversee all the services and programs provided by the Registrar's Office.
The Registrar's Office is responsible for degree progress; evaluation services; the coordination and implementation of academic policies and procedures; the security, integrity and accuracy of academic records; and the implementation of comprehensive programs and services for students and the campus community.
“Maria had done an outstanding job as associate registrar in improving the quality of service provided by the Registrar's Office. She has simplified several business processes and enhanced communication to students and the campus community,” says Associate Vice President Kathleen Street. “Most recently, Maria led the team that successfully implemented online degree audit and transfer credit. Her commitment to student success, her integrity, and her responsiveness to the needs of the campus community make Maria an excellent choice for this position.”
Martinez joined Cal Poly Pomona in September 2004 after serving for 18 years at Cal State Fullerton in evaluations and degree audit. She possesses a master's degree in Public Administration from Cal State Fullerton with concentrations in Human Resources and Finance and a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Fordham University.
