Phillip Clarke Memorial Concert to Benefit Piano Program

Phillip Clarke Memorial Concert to Benefit Piano Program
Phillip Clarke taught in the Music department for 22 years.

Each fall, the Cal Poly Pomona Music department presents a performance to raise funds for the piano program. This year's concert is at 8 p.m., Friday, Nov. 16, in the Music Recital Hall.

The benefit is dedicated to the late professor Phillip Clarke who had a profound influence on students, faculty and staff during the 22 years he taught at the university.

The annual concert was named after Clarke when he passed away in 2004. He was a well-respected and valued educator who directed and initiated benefit performances to raise funds for Music department scholarships.

Friday's recital is directed by professor Nadia Shpachenko and features students, alumni and faculty. Piano student Kateri Lirio is this year's Phillip Clarke Memorial Piano Scholarship recipient.

Tickets are $7 and are available at www.zaptix.com or at the Music Publicity Office. Call (909) 869-3554 for details.
