In spirit of the university's commitment to climate neutrality, the Fall 2007/Winter 2008 issue of PolyTrends Magazine has been printed on more eco-friendly paper. The magazine is now available and being distributed to approximately 20,000 university supporters.
This issue features “The Golden Gears” as the cover story about the 50th anniversary of Cal Poly Pomona's accomplished College of Engineering. Other stories include a look at the 60-year-old legacy of the Rose Float and a feature on how the university prepares students to be leaders in green industries.
In step with the Cal Poly Pomona's commitment to climate neutrality, PolyTrends has been printed on FSC-certified paper. The magazine is certified by the Forest Stewardship Council, which promotes environmentally appropriate, socially beneficial and economical viable management of the world's forests. To qualify, not only does the paper have to be from renewable sources, but there are strict specifications for the print shop to meet, the ink formulation, the bindery process and more.
Future editions of the magazine as well as Panorama, a university publication that reaches more than 105,000 alumni and supporters, will also be printed with the more eco-friendly paper and ink.
