Michael Guerin, Cal Poly Pomona’s chief of police, is headed to Washington D.C. for an assignment with the U.S. Department of Homeland Security. Guerin was selected as a subject matter expert to serve on a panel developing guidelines for investigative and intelligence functions within the new National Incident Management System. Guerin is a certified trainer in these topics and has 31 years of experience in law enforcement and public safety, including several years with the State of California. In his current work he will collaborate with other federal, state and local specialists in law enforcement, the intelligence community and emergency management. The materials developed will eventually be used across the country when emergencies or major events involve investigative or intelligence issues.
