Amelia Hammond/Staff Council Scholarships were awarded to four staff members on Tuesday, Oct. 30. Each recipient received $300 to assist them in pursuing their educational goals.
Amelia Hammond was a Cal Poly Pomona staff employee from 1962-1980. She served on Staff Council and founded the scholarship program in 1978 for staff employees pursuing higher education.
Each year, Staff Council raises scholarship funds through the Staff Council Valentine's Day drawing. Hammond died in June 2003, and the awards were carried on in her memory.
Recipients must use the funds for career development or personal job improvement education that is not covered by release time or fee waiver programs. Courses may be taken at community colleges, colleges, universities or technical schools.
