Bruce W. Kennedy, compliance associate in the Office of Research & Graduate Studies and lecturer in the department of Animal & Veterinary Sciences, recently completed a yearlong term as president of the American Association for Laboratory Animal Science (AALAS), a 13,000-member national professional society. During his presidency, AALAS sent Kennedy to Australia, England and Canada and throughout the United States to speak about the mission of AALAS, which is to ?advance responsible laboratory animal care and use to benefit people and animals.? At Cal Poly Pomona, he supports the Animal Care & Use Committee, ensuring that the use of animals in teaching and research complies with federal regulations. Kennedy holds a Master of Science in avian studies, is a registered laboratory animal technologist and earned his certification as a manager of a research facility.
