Officers Foisy and Lanning leave Cal Poly Pomona to provide emergency fire aid near Santa Clarita. |
Two Cal Poly Pomona University Police officers assisted other agencies in responding to the dangerous fires threatening Southern California communities on Oct. 22.
Officers Renee Foisy and Keith Lanning were sent to meet other San Gabriel Valley law enforcement officers at a staging area in Arcadia. From there the assembled police units were to convoy to handle evacuations and security duties in the Santa Clarita area where yet another threatening fire had ignited near Magic Mountain.
The Cal Poly Pomona University Police Department is a part of Los Angeles County's Mutual Aid Plan, and regularly responds to support other area departments when they need assistance. In the past, Cal Poly Pomona officers have traveled throughout the state when disasters have required their assistance.
Foisy and Lanning are on overtime, and other officers are providing the normal range of protection at the university.
