Vice President of Student Affairs Doug Freer has announced that Reyes Luna is resuming the role of interim director of Judicial Affairs. Luna is replacing Dave Johnson as he transitions into retirement.

Luna assumed the interim position on July 9. He has been with the campus for five years, serving most recently as coordinator of Residential Leadership and Education at University Housing Services. He also served in this same role as interim director of Judicial Affairs last summer.

“Reyes is a talented and up-and-coming administrator who brings significant experience in judicial affairs to this position,” Freer said. “That said, Dave will certainly be missed and we wish him the best in retirement.”

Reyes has 13 years of higher education experience, with extensive responsibility in judicial affairs and student conduct throughout his career. A Southern California native, Reyes possesses a masters degree in higher education from Ohio University and a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology from UC Davis.  Prior to his tenure at Cal Poly Pomona, he held positions at California Lutheran University, UC Davis, Ohio University and Sonoma State University.

In addition to his administrative responsibilities, Reyes has also served the campus as a lecturer in the Ethnic and Women's Studies and Liberal Studies departments, as well as the advisor to the Tau Kappa Epsilon social fraternity.

Johnson's last day at Cal Poly Pomona will be Friday, Aug. 31. Until then, he will work from the Student Services office (CLA T4-9). During that time he will complete several key projects, as well as provide guidance and assistance to Reyes as he assumes this new leadership role.

“Please join me in congratulating Reyes on his new appointment and continue to congratulate Dave on his upcoming retirement,” Freer said.
