Mark Reinhiller has been hired as the sports information director in the Athletics department, Director of Athletics Brian Swanson said.
“I am absolutely thrilled to have this opportunity to serve the student-athletes, coaches and administration at Cal Poly Pomona,” Reinhiller said. “This has been a long-time goal of mine for some 19 years to one day become a collegiate athletic publicist. I eagerly look forward to joining the Bronco family.''
Reinhiller comes to Cal Poly Pomona from the San Bernardino Sun, where he was a copy editor and golf columnist since 2001. He is expected to start in mid July. While at the Sun, he created sports headlines, wrote weekly columns on local golf and assisted in webcast sports reports.
Reinhiller has also worked for the San Bernardino Stampede, where he was the director of public relations. He served as the club's spokesman, edited and updated the club's Web site, marketed tickets and corporate sales and operated the team's club shop.
Reinhiller received the Media Excellence Award in 2003 for covering the PGA Inland Empire Chapter. He has worked in sports information at the Pac-10 Office, University of Florida and North Dakota State University.
“We are looking forward to Mark joining the Bronco family. He has blended his outstanding writing skills and public relations experiences with collegiate and professional sports during his career. Mark will make an immediate impact to the success of Bronco Athletics,” Swanson said.
Reinhiller also served as the general manager for the Grand Forks Channel Cats for two years. He was responsible for all facets of the summer collegiate baseball club and managed the fiscal responsibilities for the organization.
He is a graduate of North Dakota State earning a bachelor's of science degree in mass communications/print media in 1989 and also earning a bachelor's of science degree from the University of North Dakota in Elementary Education in 1993.
