Calling all Cal Poly Pomona staff members – wear comfortable shoes – Staff Council has a day planned for you.
On Wednesday, June 13, Staff Council will present its annual Staff Appreciation Day. The theme this year is “Take a Break – It's for You!”
The day begins at 8 a.m. with a continental breakfast and a motivational speech by Susan Berilla, director of the Office of Organizational Development & Training.
Staffers have the opportunity to put their work aside with their pick of fun activities such as a campus tour, rose garden workshop and more.
People will regroup at 11:30 a.m. for the Outstanding Staff Awards Luncheon hosted the President's Office, the President's Cabinet and the Cal Poly Pomona Foundation. The lunch will be free to all staff members.
During lunch these outstanding staff members will be honored:
- Enedina Palomera, Facilities Planning & Management, Custodial Services
- Tom Zasadzinski, Public Affairs
- Nydia Gutierrez, College of Environmental Design, URP Department
- Debra Matheson, Foundation, Bronco Bookstore
The day concludes with the 13th annual Variety Show from 2 p.m. until 4 p.m. in the University Theatre.
Staff Council facilitates the process for Outstanding Staff Awards but does not select or determine the award recipients. Nominations for outstanding staff members, which were due in April, can be made by anyone on campus. They are reviewed by the Outstanding Staff Award committee comprised of a chair, four staff members, two faculty members and one student.
The committee reviews the nominations and makes selections of outstanding staff employees according to the following rating procedures: 10% years of service; 40% job performance; 30% relations with people; and 20% university-wide performance.
