Broncos Beat Mounties In Blood Drive
Dimitrius Lynch, a senior Architecture major and Greek Council President, donated blood last January.

Cal Poly Pomona came out on top in its bloodiest challenge to date. Broncos donated 218 pints of blood beating out Mt. SAC, who collected 163 during the “Out for Blood II” campaign April 23-25.

Cal Poly Pomona lost the spirited blood drive in the fall, but came back this spring like champs.

“We wish to acknowledge the hard work of Jeremy Botica from Phi Kappa Tau who personally helped promote the drive to other fraternities and sororities the night of April 23,” says Debbie Jackley, coordinator of Marketing & Health Services Relations. “We saw a substantial increase in donations on the second and third day of the drive, and feel that his efforts were directly related to this increase.”

In the fall, Cal Poly Pomona students, staff and faculty donated 221 pints, but lost to Mt. SAC, which collected 276. There will be a third “Out for Blood” this fall.

Student Health Services will have its next regular blood drive May 21 – 22. The blood drive is sponsored by Music Saves Lives and Chipotle Grill on Valley Boulevard and Grand Avenue. Every donor will receive a coupon good for a free burrito and a music CD.
